Hi

How should I write it: p. 54-55. OR ps.54-55 . Should it be p. which stand for a page or ps. if there are more pages than just one

..the amount of €199,17 a month.  THERE SHOULD BE A COMMA OR A PERIOD BEFORE 17?

thanks

It should be "pp" which stands for "pages": "pp. 54-75".

"... an amount of $199.17" — if you want the most common format.

Is it ever possible to use commas when writing numbers?

«Is it ever possible to use commas when writing numbers?»

In Russian — yes!

Also note that there're two types of seperators: the desicmal separator and the thousands separator: 15,344.70

See.: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decimal_separator

one more question. Do we put USD before the number or after it, or  maybe it doesn't matter, i.e., USD 2,687 or 2,687USD

Hi Newguest

In AmE, the abbreviations for page and pages are as follows:

pg (PAGE) noun Coffee
MAINLY US WRITTEN ABBREVIATION FOR page (PAPER):
See pgs. 67-69.
