Epidemic - usually refers to an infectious disease (though not necessarily). It affects or an unusually large proportion of the population within a specific population, community, or region at the same time. e.g. A lot of people in a village or town may be affected

Pandemic occurs over a very wide geographical area and affects an exceptionally high proportion of the population. e.g. A lot of people in a continent, or even the world could be affected.

An epidemic occurs when a disease affects a greater number people than is usual for the locality or one that spreads to areas not usually associated with the disease. A pandemic is an epidemic of world-wide proportions.

An epidemic is an infection or disease local to a region or regions, a pandemic is a disease or infection that has traveled globally, around the world, generally carried by unknowing human or animal hosts. Depending on the incubation period, seemingly healthy travelers can carry the virus home from vacation, thus enabling the global spread of a disease, and the delay in regions getting the virus sometimes seemingly weeks or months after the initial registered outbreak.
