Hi,

change into passive :  " Enter by this door" (A notice)

Is it all right if I write : Let this door be entered?

No, that's not right at all.

You'd need to say something like 'This room is to be entered by this door',

or 'Let this room be entered by this door'.  But this is awkward and terrible, terrible style. Native speakers would just laugh at this.

Why do you want to use passive? Is it just some grammar exercise?

Most doors would just say 'Enter'.

Best wishes, Clive

Hi,

No!  It doesn't work  this way.  We do not arbitrarily make a sentence passive. When we do, we need to be clear that there are two types of passive: 1) involves an agent which is denoted with "by" i.e.  The robber was chased by the policeman. 2) agentless passive which usually is used to describe an action being completed without mentioning the person who carried out the act. Example: Husband: Where is my Blue shirt ?

Wife: It's  being washed in the machine. In this usage, it does tell the reader who put it in the wahser machine. The sentence is intended to focus on the shirt, not the person who performed the act. Is this clear?
