Hi,

Please have a look at this:

About compensation in this time of economic slowdown: few board members have experienced a crisis of this magnitude and while they want to do the right thinsg in compensating senior managers, the usual guidelines fall short. Past competitive data on peer groups are no longer useful because the landscape has changed so dramatically.

What does the bold part mean?

Many thanks,

Nessie.

Hi,

peer group - a group of similar people.

eg to decide how much to pay your senior managers, you look at the salaries of senior managers in other companies.

past - this kind of information that was gathered and used in the past

competitive - the information was gathered by looking at the salaries paid by companies that are your competitors.
