What is the past form of DIVE?

My daughter who is in grade 3, had a quiz and she answered DOVE, which i think is right.

But her teacher said it is wrong. She said the ONLY correct answer is DIVED..But according to Webster Dictionary DIVED or DOVE is the past form of DIVE.

Hi,

'Dove' is a feature of American English.

It has become so common that it now appears in dictionaries, although mine notes

N. Amer. informal.

Best wishes, Clive
