it is amazingly hard to describe my own country. i`m not sure if i like it or rather would emigrate^^
as it was already mentioned, we`re full of remorse. i don`t like the subject world war the 2nd very much. after a while you get pretty bored with it. in my opinion it is not interesting. you should of course know a bit about it. what happened is awful but that wasn`t our generation. we don`t behave this way and we try to show this to the world whenever we can. i hope that we are succesfull. next thing i think is, that our "made in germany" sign is in foreign countries still worth something, but lots of germans (that includes me) don`t think that high about it any longer. we look jeallous at the american way of life but don`t live like they do. we don`t want to move for our jobs (but that`s gettin more popular) and we want own houses^^ that means, we want to stay at our home (or at least lots of guys want that).
our politicians want to make things easy for themselves and we`ve some problems that won`t be solved. of course, every country has its own problems and nobody is perfect. but for example the politicians don`t change law to help us and are not able to make the situation better. of course they`re trying, but in my opinion in the false way. they rather blame computer players that they`re all insane and probable "amok`s". it is a pity to read our news sometimes. couple of weeks ago i had to read in our best-known tabloid (not the most famous, everyone knows or should know that they bring just stupid headlines) that games like final fantasy 7 make you go violent. that is ridiculous.
the job situation is rather badly and i`m not sure about how to finance my upcoming studium.........
but we have no speed-limit Smile [:)]

in my opinion you shouldn`t choose your new language because it is easy. i don`t know if french is harder than german, but i guess german should be more difficult. i`m german and know some guys having much trouble learning it. i tried french for two years but didn`t like it. presently i`m learning besides english spanish, and even despite the fact that there are lots of similarities to french, i like this language more.
but back to point: you should choose the language which is more likely to help you. there are at least more people/countries in the world who/which speak french. i`m not sure if german is popular. where`s it spoken? in germany! and some parts of austria and switzerland. that`s in my opinion not much

I think Germany is very kind and friendly. I have many Germen teachers in our school. They always spent a lot patience to teach someone maths or chemistry problems. Whenever I meet them, I can find a smile on their faces which maks me comfortable.

anything special you want to know? i can`t just prattle something. i think that we are like other people in other countries are. what could be distinctive for us? we`re worried about our future, we think high of cars, most of us love football (everyone in europe seems to, i don`t know why. that`s a sport full of boredom^^).
the average german is a bit overweight and 41 years old. the average german spends about 119 euros a year. the most germans esteem doctors but do not think high of tv moderators.
the average german eats about 61 kg meat, 209 eggs, 120kg fruits and 8kg chocolate. the most german choose an italian restaurant if they go out for dinner. the first sex appears at an average age of 15,5 (girls) and 16,4 (boys). a study says, that peole at age between 56 and 65 are sexual more active than youths at 25!
i could go on, because i just read an article about the average german. but i don`t think that this is the information you want to have

Why not?  Your post is really very interesting. Is this article available online?

P.S. Actually I didn't understand only "the average german spends 119 euros a year". Spend on what?
