No.  A phrasal verb is a verb plus a preposition or adverb which creates a meaning different from the original verb.

dear sir,

whenever i tried to look up any word, there are round about 7 or 8 different uses given for that word. so sir in this situation how we can determine what is different and/or exact.

 

one more question: phrasal verbs are idoms?

1-- It takes practice.  There are also long lists of phrasal verbs available in grammar texts and ON LINE.

2-- Yes, they are a kind of idiom.
