What does this phrase mean: How does it feel to be on cloud nine.
Thanks.

It means to be very happy.

As it happens, I just read the (possible) explanation for this expression the other day in Bill Bryson's book A Short History of Nearly Everything.

It seems that an 1896 edition of a meteorology book called International Cloud Atlas divided cloulds up into ten main types, of which the plumpest and most cushiony-looking was number nine, cumulonimbus.

Cheers

John.

"Cloud Nine" is a ficitional place that is supposedly the happiest place in the world.

You just got married to the woman or man you love? You're on Cloud Nine.

You just won two million dollars? You're on Cloud Nine.
