Hi

I know that interpreting what the author had on mind may make no sense and that we can only guess what he/she really wanted to say.

But maybe someone will try to figure out what the lines of the song below may mean.

EVERY YOU EVERY ME

1.Sucker love is heaven sent. I UNDERSTAND THAT "SUCKER LOVE" IS SOMETHING LIKE "FOOLISH LOVE" OR "PUPPY-LOVE"? "HEAVEN SENT" IS CLEAR

2.You pucker up, our passion's spent. "PUCKER UP" IS CLEAR, BUT I'M NOT SURE ABOUT "PASSION'S SPENT"? DOES IT MEAN WE HAVE NO MORE PASSION TO DO SOMETHING?

3.My hearts a tart, your body's rent. "HEART'S A TART" DOES IT MEAN IT HAS A SHARP SOUR TASTE? "RENT" IS PRETTY CLEAR, I GUESS.

4.My body's broken, yours is bent. THESE TWO ARE PRETTY EASY.

5.Carve your name into my arm. CLEAR

6.Instead of stressed, I lie here charmed. CLEAR

7.Cuz there's nothing else to do, CLEAR

8.Every me and every you. DOES IT MEAN THE SAME AS "FOREVER ME AND FOREVER YOU"???

9.Sucker love, a box I choose. "A BOX I CHOOSE" DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT BOX IS HE TALKING ABOUT?

10.No other box I choose to use. SAME AS ABOVE "BOX"?

11.Another love I would abuse, CLEAR

12.No circumstances could excuse. I THINK IT MEANS THAT MY ABUSING OF ANOTHER LOVE CANNOT BE EXPLAINED..?

13.In the shape of things to come. SOMETHING'S GONNA HAPPEN, I GUESS. SOMETHING WITH OUR LOVE. AGREE?

14.Too much poison come undone. "COME UNDONE" I DON'T GET IT.

15.Cuz there's nothing else to do, CLEAR

16.Every me and every you.

17.Sucker love is known to swing. "SWING" I SUPPOSE IT SAYS THAT IT IS A KIND OF LOVE WHICH HESITATES, IS NOT PERMANENT

18.Prone to cling and waste these things. "CLING" MEANS THAT IT STAYS CLOSELY. "WASTE THESE THINGS" I GUESS IT MEANS THAT THIS KIND OF LOVE WASTES SOMETHING, BUT DUNNO WHAT?

19.Pucker up for heavens sake. DOES IT SAY: YOU PUCKER UP OR I PUCKER UP??

20.There's never been so much at stake. I THINK I GET THIS LINE. IT SAYS THAT I NEVER BEFORE RISKED THAT MUCH.

21.I serve my head up on a plate. I BRING MY HEAD ON A PLATE, THOUGH I DON'T KNOW WHAT FOR?

22.It's only comfort, calling late. HMM, I'M NOT SURE ABOUT THIS LINE. "COMFORT," I GUESS, SAYS THAT HAPPINESS IS CALLING LATE. DOES IT MEAN IT'S JUST LATE, TOO LATE?

23.Cuz there's nothing else to do, CLEAR

24.Every me and every you. CLEAR

25.Like the naked leads the blind. I UNDERSTAND EVERY WORD HERE, BUT I DON'T GET THE OVERALL MEANING OF IT. WHY THE NAKED LEADS THE BLIND?

26.I know I'm selfish, I'm unkind. CLEAR

27.Sucker love I always find, CLEAR

28.Someone to bruise and leave behind. CLEAR

29.All alone in space and time. HE SAYS THAT WE OR I AM VERY ALONE, I SUPPOSE?

30.There's nothing here but what here's mine. HMM, I'M NOT SURE ABOUT THIS LINE. THERE IS NOTHING HERE, BUT SOMETHING IS MINE..HOW DO YOU UNDERSTAND IT?

31.Something borrowed, something blue. WHAT IS "BORROWED"? WHAT DOES "BLUE" MEAN IN THIS CONTEXT?

32.Every me and every you. CLEAR

here's the song itself. If you feel like it you can listen to it:

Thanks

Hi!

I'll try to help only in the fragments I am able to understand:

3.My heart's a tart, your body's rent. "HEART'S A TART" DOES IT MEAN IT HAS A SHARP SOUR TASTE? "RENT" IS PRETTY CLEAR, I GUESS.

Comment: The function of tart in this sentence is as a noun, not as an adjective: so, it hasn't got here the meaning of acid or sour. Tart means cake, but in this particular case and regarding the last part of the sentence - your body's rent - it has probably the other "slang" meaning of tart: prostitute.

Further comments:

21.I serve my head up on a plate. I BRING MY HEAD ON A PLATE, THOUGH I DON'T KNOW WHAT FOR? (Do you remember that story in the Old Testament? Salomé asked King Herodes for the Apostle John’s head; then, I think that the expression “to serve someone’s head on a plate” means that you surrender, that you give yourself, your heart, your love, to another person without expecting anything in return.)

30.There's nothing here but what here's mine. HMM, I'M NOT SURE ABOUT THIS LINE. THERE IS NOTHING HERE, BUT SOMETHING IS MINE..HOW DO YOU UNDERSTAND IT? (It’s a nonsense verse, but with a lot of sense: Even if there’s nothing here, this nothing belongs to me, it’s mine.)

31.Something borrowed, something blue. WHAT IS "BORROWED"? WHAT DOES "BLUE" MEAN IN THIS CONTEXT?

(Something old, something new

Something borrowed, something blue

And a silver sixpence in her shoe.

This is a rhyme is a tradition in British weddings: It is said that the marriage will be successful if the bride wears “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and a silver sixpence in her shoe.” Well, a coin in the shoe must be a bit uncomfortable!)

So, what actually is the meaning of it; that I will be successful or is it just a rhyme without any sense and I shouldn't try to find meaning in it?

"Something borrowed something blue

 Every me and every you"

Maybe it means that you and me will be happy, successful etc. By the way, what do you think about the title; does it mean "forever me and forever you"

Thanks for your help!

I wouldn't go too far trying to interpret this lot.

I think that a lot of lines are in there just to rhyme and sound clever. Perhaps the writer could explain them but the rest of us don't have much chance!
