Hi.
There are two countries.
------------------------------------------
The number of doctors in the country A: 10000
The number of doctors in the country B: 50000
------------------------------------------

I explain the above situation as follows.

(1) There are four fifth fewer doctors in the country A than in the country B.

(2) There are 80 percent fewer doctors in the cuontry A than in the country B.

Is there anything wrong with these sentences?
Also, if you were I, how would you express the situation?

Use 2, 1 is awkward

I see no need for 'the' before 'country'.  I agree with Marius.

Hi, thank you for your responses.

How about this?

'The number of doctors in country A is one fifth of that in country B.'

Does this work?

This sentence reads well [I'll trust your math].
