Hi,

could you please tell me what the following sentence exactly means?

'Mr Straw said the visit showed Europe was putting its "bitter" divisions over the Iraq war behind it'

Thanks in advance,
Adam

Some countries in Europe supported the Iraq war, some countries were against it. This cause a lot of bad feeling at the time. The visit showed that Europe is moving on from all the arguments and becoming more cohesive again.
