Can you give more context to how it was used?

"A feather in one's cap" means an achievement. That may be related, but maybe not.

Barbara, who answers in American English. My housekeeping skills attest to the truth of the second law of thermodynamics: Left to themselves, things get more and more random!

That's a new one for me. Is it a BrE expression? Is it still used? I like it!

Hello,

I found this text on the web. Feather in his cap could mean achievement and it seems it is used in British English.

Do anyone agree?

"There are 43 police forces in England and eight in Scotland and if the units are adopted nationally the new managing director of Ingenico's northern European operations, Nick Parsons, would gain an early feather in his cap."
