STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

My full name is Tan Dao Van, I was born in Hatinh province, a little place in the Northcentral of Vietnam. In 1989 my family moved to Daklak province, located in the Central of Vietnam. I often spend my free time on playing football which is my hobby.

Because of my excellence performance in high school, I entered Banking University in Hochiminh City in September 2000. I graduated in August 2004 with a Degree in Finance. After graduation, I work for Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam, one of the biggest banks of Vietnam. I have chances to approach different investment projects of different industry fields given by our customers who need to be financed by bank loans. As for exceeding customers’ expectation, I have to be professional and work effectively. After accomplishing each of credit document, I could accumulate good experiences not only in project financing but also in other banking services. Besides, the bank had trained me in setting specific objectives for each assigned work, monitoring my own time against budget, understanding and utilizing differences among team members. These capabilities help me in improving my teamwork skills as well as the ability to cope with pressure matters. My experiences with the bank will surely benefit me in my next study and job.

Being involved in appraising customers’ long-term business plans and financial standing, cooperating with other financial institution staffs, I realize MBA qualification specialized in finance is essential for my job. In addition, my country is turning from centrally planned economy to market oriented one. Therefore, delving in our country’s young market, I found that in the next few years, she will employ a huge number of specialist well-versed in comprehensive knowledge of management. She really needs true managers’ perspective on business challenger and I, more than even, want to meet her expectation . I also know that a large proportion of those will obviously graduate from leading university all over the world.

In the following years, as a specialist in Project Finance Department, I will play a key role in appraising customer’s business plans. As this point of my career, I have to equip myself with in-depth and practical theory, especially in business and finance, which will be provided by the cornerstone of experiential learning in your University. Where and when a venture fund should invest, how investment portfolio and risk should be managed are my job-related field, which I am absorbed from outstanding faculty and multitude courses at your University.

I have spent one year studying hard to prepare for the competitive examination of Vietnam Scholarship Program. Winning this Scholarship makes me feel more confident. Still, I understand that your programs are more highly competitive. But I do cherish challenge and hope you consider my application. Being a member of your community is my haunting ambition.
