Please help me with the following doubt.

Which one of the following sentences is correct?

1.He is one of those who works hard.

2. He is one of those who work hard.

Also,

John is one of those picketers who is arrested.

John is one among those who are arrested.

Do they mean the same?

I would be grateful if you respond quickly

  My personal preference:

He is one who works hard.  He is one of those who work hard.

Take it from there.

Hi,

John is one of those picketers who is arrested.

John is one among those who are arrested.

Why are you using present tense here? Do you mean these people have a habit of getting arrested? Or perhaps you mean they got arrested in the past, in which case you should use past tense.

Do they mean the same? No, becuase in the second sentence you do not state that the people arrested are/were picketers.

Best wishes, Clive
