Hi my englishforums friends,

Can you please help me with this sentence....

Last time I saw her was over a bow of jailhouse stew.

This sentence said a woman an ex-con, about the woman who is missing.

So, please where did she see her? In what part of the jailhouse?

thank you in advance, because I have no idea what does this mean...:-((

Best wishes

JCD

I think this should be "over a bowl of jailhouse stew".  It means "the last time I saw her, we were eating a meal together in the jail."

It's like "let's discuss this over a cup of coffee."  There was a long thread some time ago about this use of "over", if you want to search for it.
