Hi !

Please, what's the meaning of the following expressions:

a) Just our luck...(used when you are disappointed e.g.);

b) Like it or lump it. (when you are answering a dissatisfaction or complaint);

c) Quit your bellyaching (when you are answering a dissatisfaction or complaint);

d) Don't worry about little old me (when someone is asking about care/concern)

Thanks,

Debby

Hi,

You seem to have  some understanding of these expressions already. Perhaps you should write some sentences in which you use them, and then we can comment on those for you.

Hi, Clive

  No, unfortunately I don't. The book where I found them just says in which cases/circumstamces people use each one of them.  I really don't know/understand them so I can't make sentences with expressions that have no meaning for me (for this reason is that I am asking for help).

a) Just our luck...(used when you are disappointed e.g.);

b) Like it or lump it. (when you are answering a dissatisfaction or complaint);

c) Quit your bellyaching (when you are answering a dissatisfaction or complaint);

d) Don't worry about little old me (when someone is asking about care/concern)

e)  I just can't get worked up about (when someone says he's not interested).

I hope you can help me !!!

Thanks,

Debby
