Try to read between the lines: The children are blooming; they represent spring, whereas the writer is a haggered old man approaching winter, but through the children he can once again experience spring.

But I am still a bit confused. You have suggested me to use 'the' in the first place, and 'some' in the second. Don't you think 'the' implies particularity? I think the whole sentence is supposed to mean problems in general rather than in particular?

By the way, what about

It's quite unclear from the poem. They might be some questions regarding general problems of life.
