What's the plural of "axis" ?
Do all words ending in -is have the same plural?
How would the possessive form of such a plural look like?
Thanks in advance

One axis, two axes. The axis's ordinate is horizontal. The axes' ordinates are horizontal.

I don't know whether they are all -is/-es, Pieanne. Let's check:

one emphasis, two emphases.
one analysis, two analyses.
one crisis, two crises.
one prognosis, two prognoses.
one diagnosis, two diagnoses.
one basis, three bases.

The ones I can think of all seem to have the classic Latin plurals. There are probably some that do not, though-- after all, this is English.
