I found out that in some cases plural of a noun means different kinds/types rather than multiple.
For example,
Humans have more than 600 muscles. => muscles here means different kinds of muscles
Another example is squid(s). Squid and squids are both plurals but squids is generally refering to different species of squid.
I'm worried that for nouns that I'm not familiar with, I might use them incorrectly, as online dictionaries do not explain which context plural nouns refer to. I believe most plural nouns refer to multiple case but there are exceptions.
Are there any resources that provide this distinction?
Thanks!
