I have worked in video and audio production for over 15 years.  From my experience a person who does some sort of performance is called the talent. You've probably heard this before.

I want to know what the correct plural form 'talent' is in this case.  I have always heard the plural as talent. For example, if a group of actors and actresses are going to audition for a part you'd still say "We're waiting for the talent to arrive", as opposed to "he has many talents".

So what do you think the plural for this freaky noun/verb is?

Hi,

I have worked in video and audio production for over 15 years.  From my experience a person who does some sort of performance is called the talent. You've probably heard this before.

I want to know what the correct plural form 'talent' is in this case.  I have always heard the plural as talent. For example, if a group of actors and actresses are going to audition for a part you'd still say "We're waiting for the talent to arrive", as opposed to "he has many talents".

So what do you think the plural for this freaky noun/verb is? I'd say 'the talent'. It's a collective kind of noun. It seems to me this term is really a piece of insider jargon, used almost excusively by those who work in the entertainment professions.

When I was a teenager and went with other guys to a dance where there were a lot of good-looking girls, we'd say to each other, 'Gee, there's a lot of talent here tonight'.

Best wishes, Clive
