Plutocrat means someone who has power because they are rich. I was wondering why it had something to do with "Pluto" the planet. Please advise on that.

I believe they come from different roots.  Πλοῦτος means wealth.

Right, different origins, both Greek.

The planet comes from the Greek/Roman god of the underworld, while the other comes from the Greek word for "wealth".
