Application for Scholarship for winter semester 2009/2010

Dear sir or madam,

I hereby wish to apply for the Scholarship for foreign students for winter semester 2009/2010. Currently I am a student in the master program MA.IB (Master of art International Business). Having made great effort and progress during the one year study in XXX, I believe I am qualified for the Scholarship.

I am confident to say that I am a very hard-working person and have achieved great progress in my study. At the beginning of my study at XXX, I experienced an extremely difficult time. Unlike most of my colleagues, I didn't have the chance to exchange aboard or studied in an English speaking environment before. I could hardly catch up because of the language as well as the way of teaching in Germany was very different from my home country. Besides, since I was majored in Financial Investment which was mainly oriented in Securities Investment and Financial Engineering, I was somewhat lack of knowledge of Management, Marketing and International Trade which is highly required in Master of International Business. Therefore I spent a large amount of time to fit in with a new approach of study. With devotion and the help of my colleagues, I managed to catch up and did well in th exams. In the final exams of the 1st semester, I got an average grade of XXX.

Another great challenge for me was the German language. Even though it is not required in our Master program, I think it would help me approach to the German culture and benifit my future career. Besides attending the language course at University, I went to private language courses in order to improve myself faster. Ten months ago when I arrived in Germany, I can hardly speak any German. But now I can speak German fluently in the daily-life conversation because of my persistent endeavor.

From next month I will exchange to Sweden and continue my study there. With the financial support from my parents, I got the chance to study in Europe and develop my capability. However, the living cost here is much higher than my home country. The schorlarship would be very important for me to support my study. In fact,the schorlarship is not only a financial aid for me but also recognition of my effort,which encourages me to seek for further achievement.
