Here is my opinion:

Meaning 1: Alan is in the painting.

(1) # (2)

Meaning 2: A painting belonging to Alan.

(1) = (2)

That means (1) has 2 meanings: either Alan is in the painting or this painting is belonged to Alan.

Am I right? Please share wuth me your opinions.

It's a painting of Alan's. It is a painting belonging to Alan or it is a painting done by Alan.

It's Alan's painting. Alan is in the painting or it is a painting belonging to Alan or It is a painting done by Alan.
