So I was wondering what is the proper way to show possession. For example,

That is Jack's coat.

I know that much is right, but what about when it's Marcus?

That is Marcus's coat.

Is it "Marcus's" or "Marcus' " ?
I've always been taught that it is "Marcus' ", but I was told by a friend that they 'changed' the ruling on that and it is now supposed to be "Marcus's".

Any help would be appreciated,

It depends on which style manual you consult, but the most cited rule I know of says if it's singular add 's -- no exceptions.

So it would be Marcus's.
