Can someone please explain, what is the different between "predicate" and "verb"?

Thank you.

I like to help you. In this sample, "like" is verb, while "like to help you" is predicate.

Predicate is one of the two main syntactic units, the other is the subject, that constitute a simple sentence. It consists of a verb and words it governs and modify it.
