Problems with grammar !!!

In each sentence of the following sentences there is a mistake. Spot and correct it.

1.What deities the first inhabitants of your country believe in ?
2.To my opinion Robin Hood much resembles Krali Marko from our folk songs.
3.In 1185 the Second Bulgarian Kingdom founded.
4.In 1280 Bulgaria becomes subjcted to Serbs, Greeks and Mongols.

6.Anglo-Saxon runes, as most ancient wrote signs, were regarded as sacred and magical.
7.It was more than one and a half centuris before St.Augustine when the conversion of the Irish Celts to Christianity began.
8.Do you think the word "parliament" hat is of French origin meaning a "talking place" justifies its original meaning nowadays?
9.Apart from nobility and clergy,every leading town in England had its representatives in the English Parliament.
10.Why did the Church consider the translation of the Bible into English threat to its power?
11.I guess, it had to be really dangerous for rich people to cross the mountains with Robin Hood and his men around.
12."the Quest of the Holy Grail" is among the best known myths of the ancient times.
13.Arthurian cycle of legends is an example of how pagan virtues and Christian beliefs co-existed in old times.
14.The Friar is an embodiment of all the flaws of the clergy Chaucer sees in his time.
15."Caunterbury Tales" features specific rhythm and the rhyme pattern.

19.Were I you I would have read the book itself instead of complaining how awful all commentaries on it are.
20.May be they have read all Bulgarian legends but, frankly speaking, I doubt it.

5-- NO. Hard to tell. 'Giotto' is spelled wrong. Probably they want 'are'.
6-- NO
7-- NO
8-- NO (there should be no finite verb in that clause at all)
9-- hint: 'apart from' is wrong
10- NO
11- all I can see is wayward commas an overly casual vocabulary
12- NO. no 'the'
13- 'Cycle' is a singular countable noun
14- Chaucer has been dead for a long time, Max
15- check the articles
16- ok!
17- 'a most' is OK, but there is a mess later in the sentence
18- ok!
19- that part's OK-- I think they want 'complaining about'.
20- ok, but I think legends needs the definite article also.

Yes, that may be it, Paco. I don't know whether 'complaining how' requires 'about', but I thought it probably does in formal composition. On the other hand, it seems to me that the logic of #19 can take either 'would read' or 'would have read'. My conclusion is that it is not a well-written problem.

So much time I spent about thinking on this exercise and at least I understand that I havn't done almost anything :(

5-- that is my presumption too.
6-- NO. The problem is in here: 'as most ancient wrote signs'
7-- NO. 'when' is wrong
8-- Hint: there are two finite verbs-- impossible!
9-- 'Apart from' is wrong
10- Hint: is 'threat' a noun or a verb here?
11- As I said, all I can see is wayward commas an overly casual vocabulary. I have no idea either-- would you check the original please?
12- 'the ancient times' is wrong. These ancient times are unspecified.
13- You have the right idea but the wrong article.
14- YES
15- NO. It is 'a... pattern' and 'the rhyme' is wrong as well. (Was there a typo in this one?)
17- The problem is definitely in here: 'the later film after'. 'Later' seems to work for me almost as well as 'latest', and I much prefer 'about' to 'after'-- but the latter may be a Briticism.
20- Yes, but I still think 'maybe' is a better choice. If two words are used, it should be written: 'It may be that'.


As I said somewhere else, Max: when you are inputting all these questions, be sure to proofread carefully, including precise punctuation. It is sometimes difficult to guess whether the typing is faulty or the question is faulty, or-- the gods forbid!-- I am faulty!
