How is Jesus' pronounced? Is it Jesus (no additiona S sound) or Jesus-s? Are both pronunciations correct?

GEE-ZUS

Jesus-s? - I don't get the sound you're trying to describe.

The question is concerning the possessive form of the Proper Noun, in this case Jesus. How does one pronounce the possessive form such as "Jesus' presence" or "Jesus' mother?"

Any takers?

Hi,

Just pronounce it as '2 esses' - Jesus's mother. Chris's mother. Tom's mother.

Best wishes, Clive

How is Jesus' pronounced? Is it Jesus (no additiona S sound) Yes. or Jesus-s?  No. Are both pronunciations correct? Not as written.  You would need Jesus's for the additional /iz/ on the end.  Though the 's is usually added for modern names, it is quite typical to use only the ' for the possessive for historical figures.  Hence,

Jesus' disciples

Socrates' wife

If you are concerned with the possessive, it might help to remember that the possessive "'s" is an abbreviation of "his", so archaically it would be "Jesus his mother.
