Hi. I'm curious, is the sound 'o' in words 'wonder', 'one' similar to 'u' in cut or 'oo' in 'flood' ? Maybe I have quite not enough skill, but every time I hear this sound after 'W' it doesn't resemble me that one in 'cut' though it is it according to transctiption, and is more likely to sound 'o' in 'hop' (u.s) or 'bath' (u.k). I appeal for answer to both British and American speakers. Thank you.

Yes, even though it may not resemble it to your ear, that's what it is.
