Hello,
I am from Ukraine and I am studying English & German Philology at university, but I have an immense problem. Our English teacher speaks with a notable Russian accent and is trying to impose it on us, so no one can explain correct British English phonetics to me. The very few phonetics-related books that are available are by Russian authors and the description of sounds that they give is VERY weird.
I try to do my best to improve my pronunciation - I watch a lot of British TV and I listen to tapes for about 2 hours a day and try to imitate them, but it's difficult because I don't know how exactly to pronounce the sounds and I have miserable imitation skills. I would like to find some practical (& detailed) information about articulating the sounds of British English. If you know any website with such instructions, PLEASE inform me, or PLEASE try to explain some sounds here on the forum.
