It was summer time. The weather was very unpleasant and it was hot in the village. There was no school. Time seemed to pass slowly than in any other season. John and his friends would do anything to kill time. On the weekends, they went to climb and hunt. Sometimes they stole fruits from the orchard in another village. When the owner saw them, he yelled at them. Then he ran after them with a long stick. He would have almost caught John when he fell into a mud hole but he was a strong kid. He stood up and ran quickly away. The owner was really fed up this time. He went to John's parents and told them every thing. John was punished. His parents forbade him to go to another village.
After a month passed about the orchard incident, John's parents were lenient with him again. They let him go out to play with his neighbors. What happened that day he would never forget? His young neighbors loved fishing very much. They had all kinds of fishing tools. He followed them when they went fishing. They walked a mile to a small lake. There was a little fishing boat. He boarded the boat, taking a small fishing rod. Then one of his friends rowed it. When they were in the middle of the lake, he fell off the boat. He couldn't swim. He was sinking to bottom of the lake. Then he pushed himself upwards. When he was about to reach the surface, he was blocked by the bottom to the boat. He could not hold his breath much longer. He sank to the bottom of the lake again and came back up. This time he made it to the surface. John was scared to death. He thought he was going to die. His friend pulled him into the boat. Afterwards, he didn't remember much. John lost interested in fishing because he almost drowned
