Proper Punctuation

Every grammar checking software tool that I've tried, tells me that the sentences below are not properly punctuated, but they don't give me a clue as to how to correct them.  Can anyone help?

1. Is the use of the "or" between the quoted phrases correct valid? If not, what do I need to do to correct the sentence?

More often than not, my parents received calls such as, “Danny was picking on little Rickey!” or “I heard Danny swearing by the basketball court!” or the vague but convincing, “Somebody told me that they heard from someone else, that Danny was looking at Playboy magazines.”

2. Is the following punctuation correct?  If not, any suggestions?

During my lifetime, I’ve been told to “Book ‘em Dano!” at least a thousand times.

3. How would I properly puctuate the following sentence?

In the early 2000s, this gave birth to the now infamous crowd chant, “Inbreds wear red!” (Walnut Grove’s school colors).

I've bolded the obvious corrections (to me).  I think there may be disagreement about commas before short quotes and periods inside of quotes, but I'm happy with them this way:

More often than not, my parents received calls such as “Danny was picking on little Rickey!” or “I heard Danny swearing by the basketball court!” or the vague but convincing “Somebody told me that they heard from someone else that Danny was looking at Playboy magazines.”

During my lifetime, I’ve been told to “Book ‘em, Dano!” at least a thousand times.

In the early 2000s, this gave birth to the now-infamous crowd chant, “Inbreds wear red!” (Walnut Grove’s school colors).
