Hi teachers ,

Is there any difference between proposal , proposition and suggestion ?

Can I write like this ?Iwould appreciate it very much if you could take the trouble to edit it for me.

Based on the suggestion/proposal /proposition  of salary raise made by the personnel manager and after  considering constributions made by Mr. John Smith during his work , the director hereby decides to give Mr.John Smith a pay raise from $1,500/month  to $1,800/month starting from May 01,2008.

We look forward to  Mr.John Smith 's continuous contribution to the growth of the company.

Thank you in advance

Can I write like this? Iwould appreciate it very much if you could take the trouble to edit it for me.

Based on the personnel manager's suggestion of/proposal /proposition for a salary rise and after  considering the contributions made by Mr. John Smith during his work, the director hereby decides to increase Mr Smith's salary from $1,500/month  to $1,800/month starting from May 01,2008.

We look forward to  Mr. Smith 's continuous contribution to the growth of the company.

Thank you in advance

Either suggestion or proposal will work in this context.

Hi,

What's the difference between pay raise and pay rise? I always use pay raise and this is the first time I see pay rise used. Have I been wrong all along?

Maybe the difference is a UK/US thing. We would say "pay raise" here, or just a raise.
