My daughters and I are having a dispute over a punctuation question.  We aren't sure what punctuation goes at the end of this:

I was wondering if the 18" high comment refers to the back of the sofa or the seat

Thanks for any insight.

Well, it's not really always clear. I assume you're wondering whether to use a ? or a . If you said it out loud and the rising inflection showed it to be a question, I can see using a question mark.

The sentence is a declarative statement and requires a period at the end. If you said (or wrote): "I was wondering: Does the 18" high comment refer to the back of the sofa or the seat?"...then a question mark would be appropriate.
