Hello

I found the following sentence in the recipe.
#1  Put in some milk if you like.

I wonder if "put" can be used for liquid like milk.
Is "pour" a right word?

Would you give me some help?

Thank you.

Hi,

'Pour' is a more precise word. However, 'put in' here really just means 'add', so it's OK.

In spoken English, we use a handful of small words like put, get, make and do a great deal.

Best wishes, Clive
