Is this a correct way of quoting somebody ?-- It is OK, but the extra remark is unnecessary. These are correct (note punctuation):

He said, and I quote, "I am the King of the World."

He said, "I am the King of the World."

He was quoted as saying that he was the king of the world. Is this the correct way to write the quotations mentioned in the indirect speech ?

No quotation marks in indirect speech.

In the previous question, I think "and I quote" would be used only in spoken English.  It would be redundant in written form, ans the qutotation marks are there.
