Racing sponsorship letter

Hi, I am new to this site. I really need help with sponsorship. I am a young, female race car driver and I need some sponsors for this season. My goal for this year is to race in as many races as I can and win. In the spring I might get an opportunity to go out to Indianapolis, Indiana and test a bigger sized up race car. My long term goal is to race out in Indiana and race in bigger races(NASCAR/Indy 500). But for now I am racing locally (Pennsylvania). I will race at different tracks throughout the region. My brother also races so that is an advantage for sponsors. When drivers get a sponsor, the tracks always announces the sponsors and we will have an opportunity to wear the sponsor's items, like t-shirts, hats, etc.
I hope that is enough.. I want to stop losing sleep over this!! I just don't know how to write it! :( Thanks in advance!

I just don't know how to start it. And I don't know how to word the sentences so it "draws" in the businesses...

I don't know very much about sponsorship letters. But I myself would probably have three brief paragraphs in my letter, with appropriate headings:

1. Who am I, and what do I plan to do?
2. How could this benefit you?
3. What will it cost?

#1 would include much of what you've already posted. It sounds enthusiastic and energetic.

#2 would tell them what they'd get for their money.

#3 would tell them how much they'd have to give.

I'd keep the letter to one page, and maybe embed some pictures of you racing in your car, outside your car holding your helmet, opening a bottle of champagne, etc. You could make them into a panel to run down the side of the letter.

Might be an idea to stress the fact that you're young and female, if that's unusual in your racing world. Marketing depts like to attach themselves to something distinctive.

Perhaps you could have another panel somewhere on your letter with a list of your wins etc. Maybe under the pictures.

Only my 2¢, though.

Can you guys give me any pointers as to how I should world my letter? I wrote mine following what suggestions you gave so here's my letter(removed my contact info, name, etc.):

To Whom It May Concern

Hello, My name is ****** ******. I am 17 and I’m building a race car for the Auto Clearing Motor Speedway Thunderstocks class for the 2007 season. I plan to be in as many races as I can possibly attend and will race to my utmost ability. I plan to run a 1978 Chevrolet Caprice with a 305 Cubic Inch Chevrolet Motor, I will be painting it black and white in a “police car” type style(white doors and roof, everything else black) with a police style 7-point star somewhere on the side. I am at this point 60% done assembling the car I need to install the motor, safety belts, wiring, guages, fire extinguisher, and a few other odds and ends to make the car race worthy. During the beginning of the 2007 season I will take it pretty easy because I will be a rookie and it will be my first time on the race surface. I’ve attended Races for a long time and have been interested in building a car and racing since I was 14. I believe I could do very well with the right backing and right equipment. My long term goal is to possibly reach the Nascar Canadian Tire Series(formerly Cascar) and then maybe Nascar Nextel Cup.

For your support you will receive as much as I possibly can show your logo and speak about your company. Your logo will be on my car and listed along with my car on AutoClearingMotorSpeedway.ca in my driver profile. Thousands of people come through the pits after the races so your company logo will be shown to many people and many audiences. I will make a website for my team and car before the season begins next year so your logo will also be shown on that webpage. Logo’s will be set on the car according to your choice, but depending on how many sponsors I can get may be limited to a few options, these spaces I can give are the hood, trunk lid, upper rear quarter panel, lower-behind wheel well-quarter panel and front fenders.

To race in the 2007 season I will need to acquire a few good tires(not necessarily new), gas, transportation to the track(use of a trailer if possible, or materials to build a trailer), I may have to upgrade my tow vehicle a little bit(new tires, transmission cooler, rebuilt driveshafts, etc) and anything that your company sees fit to help me with. I don’t require a lot just a company that will support the beginning of my racing career.

Pretty good but you haven't actually asked them to sponsor you and I would get to the point more quickly. My suugestion
