Radio labeling is a process which incorporates a radioactive ligand into a small molecule or bio-molecule that enables detection and quantification of the molecule. Bio-molecules include DNA, RNA and amino acids. One way to visualize radio-labeled material is autoradiography. Those who work with radioactive isotopes must generally complete training in the handling of these substances and/or obtain a license to do so.

Radio-labeled hormones and radio-labeled proteins are the hormones and proteins that have been treated with radioactive ligands to enable detection and quantification of these substances through audioradiography.
