Can I say,

(a) It started to rain cat and dog. John hurt his leg. He tried to walk with Peter, but he had no energy to do it.

(b) Last Friday was not a good day. As John and Peter were chatting happily, the rain came. They quickly ran to find shelter.

(c) As they were going home, the sky was getting dark and started to rain. They ran quickly to avoid getting wet from raining.

(d) Last Sunday, when John and Peter were going home, it suddenly started to rain. They ran quickly as they thought they could go home fast.
