What is "rainbow's end"? Does it have a special meaning?

I saw it as a sign on a house in a park.

Thanks,

The end of the rainbow holds a pot of gold, or is where all your dreams come true. It is the place of fulfillment of your fondest goals.

If you like musicals, you should watch Finian's Rainbow. There is a leprechaun's pot of gold there.Smile [:)]

Hi all,

You remind me of an old lovely song "Moon River."

"Moon River, wider than a mile
I'm crossing you in style some day
You dream maker
You heartbreaker
Wherever you're going
I'm going your way

Two drifters off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end
Waitin' round the bend
My Huckleberry friend
Moon River and me"

1. What does 'cross someone in style' mean? Is it a common phrase?

2. We're after the same rainbow's end. Here "rainbow's end" has same kind of meaning as in our previous discussions then?

3. What is 'Huckleberry friend'?

In States, there's a public TV program called 'Reading Rainbow", which introduces some reading materials for children. Does 'rainbow' have same kind of meaning?

Thanks for your replies.

1. No, it isn't. We do not cross 'someone' in the sense meant here. 'You' is the river; to 'cross a river' is a common collocation for getting to the other side of it. 'In style' means in good style/fashion/condition--perhaps wealthy, happy and in an expensive mahoganyChris-craft yacht with a blonde on each arm. I myself, however, always think of the River Styx when I hear this song.

2. Yes, it does-- the same success and freedom from want and unhappiness.

3. Nothing precisely; it was coined for the song. 'Huckleberry' carries nuances of happy country youth-- perhaps they were childhood friends who enjoyed picking and eating wild huckleberries together during the endless, bucolic summers; 'Huckleberry Finn', the self-sufficient country boy is also conjured to the listener's mind.

Below the line-- I am not familiar with 'Reading Rainbow', but I suspect not; here, 'rainbow' more likely refers to the wide range of colorful books-- or books that call up colorful images-- that are sure to interest the children who watch the show.
