Hi, what is the difference between those 2 words in the context "to look after animals", for example:

Is there any difference between:

He is interested in breeding dogs.

He is interested in raising dogs.

Thank you.

Dog breeding generally referes to the business of mating very specific animals together in order to produce offspring having very certain characteristics and often a "pedigree."

Raising dogs is a much more generic term and does not imply any specific reason or motive. It may not even involve mating animals, merely taking pups perhaps and looking after them until they are mature.

(This is a very general phrase or term "usage" explanation.)
