They're fine, except this one:

The questions complex are rather clear.

I couldn't make this one out.

You could say this, for example:

- The questions are rather complex.

sorry i want to ask something. i chcek the word out from dictionary which shows that the definition is fairly or to some degree.

for example "I was rather surprised to see him with his ex-wife."

If i change rather to quite/not in this sentence, are they still same meaning?

thx

I think "rather" falls somewhere between "somewhat" and "quite." I find "quite" to be stronger than "rather."

Not very
A little
Somewhat
Rather
Quite
Very

Others may disagree, and there are other words that can be inserted in this spectrum, but I don't see "quite" as interchangable with "rather."

Ms. Geek

Thank you for the help. Concerning the sentence "the questions complex are rather clear", sorry! That was a typing mistake. In fact I wanted to say: "the questions are rather clear".

Best regards,
Sam
