I'd like to know how to differentiate associate, relevant, related. Thanks a lot.

relevant (adjective) - appropriate; to the purpose

associate (verb) - relate, link, tie in, to make a logical or casual connection

related (adjective) - Being connected; associated, connected by kinship, common origin, or marriage.

Do you have a common topic for all the three words?  It would be easier to explain the differentiation if you could mention the context.
