Rephrasing

"Security is a critical portion of the IP PBX design and is fully as important as the design of the network."

Kindly advise whether this sentence can be rephrased as follows:

"Security is a critical portion of the IP PBX design and it is as fully as important as the design of the network."

The added 'it' in the second is OK, but there are too many 'as's-- remove the first one.
