Guru,

I am trying to write an email to my line manager. We already discussed about the issues. I would be grateful if you could look the email below and correct wherever appropriate. Thanks a lot as always.

Dear Boss

We spoke.

As you know I worked at the project on Sunday 3 Aug 08 for fixing their computer problem and on 10 Aug 08 for taking quarterly full system backup. Mr David suggested me to take overtime. He signed of my overtime form before he left the post.

Now I was told by accounts that I am not eligible for overtime as per their policy. I was given the overtime last year at there for working one weekend with helpdesk for new software rollout.

My salary and other benefits are fall under the head office (this office). This means I am eligible for the overtime.

Following are summary of the work I did on 3 and 10 Aug 08 –
3 Aug 08 – 13:50 to 23:30 = 9:40 hours
10 Aug 08 – 11:20 to 19:15 = 7:55 hours

Total 17:35 hours worked. I would be grateful if you could arrange to provide the overtime for me. Thanks a lot.

Dear Boss, [This is not a generally acceptable greeting-- Dear Mr (surname) is correct for a superior-- but if this is commonly used in your workplace, then go ahead.]

Pursuant to our conversation: I worked on the project on Sunday, August 3rd, to fix their computer problem, and on August 10th to do the quarterly full system backup. Mr David suggested that I apply for overtime, and he signed my overtime form before he left the post.

Now I have been told by Accounts that I am not eligible for overtime as per their policy. However, I was paid overtime last year for working one weekend with the help desk for a new software rollout.

My salary and other benefits fall under the head office (this office), so I should be eligible for the overtime.

Following is a summary of the work I did:

3 Aug 08 – 13:50 to 23:30 = 9.40 hours
10 Aug 08 – 11:20 to 19:15 = 7.55 hours Total 17.35 hours worked.
I would be grateful if you could arrange to provide the overtime to me.
Thank you very much.
