Dear All,
Please check my following letter and give me hints and correction to make my letter more formal and good.
Dear Sir,
I am writing with reference to your recent advertisement in www.jobs.ac.uk for an engineering doctorate studentship related to the engineered materials for high performance applications in aerospace.
As you can see from my enclosed CV, I am a second year master student at the University of Tokyo, hoping to graduate by September, 2007, doing research on “Implementation of Advanced Seismic Response Analysis of a Dam into Integrated Earthquake Simulation (IES)” under the supervision of Prof. Hori Muneo. I have submitted a paper for Journal of Applied Mechanics (JSCE), it is under review now. For further information please refer my CV. Also I have been awarded the Japanese government scholarship (MEXT) for this master degree in 2005.
I have finished my BSc.Engineering degree in 2004, securing First class honors with rank 1, specializing in civil Engineering, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. And I have won the “Ceylon Development Engineering prize for best performance in civil engineering” and “University prize for Academic Excellence” in 2004. I did undergraduate research on "Development of correlation for cone penetrometer results for Sri Lankan soils" under Prof. S. B. Abeyakoon. And I have published a paper which you can refer from my CV.
I hope the knowledge and experience gained during undergraduate study in material science & mechanics of materials, and knowledge gaining in programming and numerical analysis skill in master degree will help me to pursue this engineering doctorate offer as your expectation. I shall be thankful if you could let me know the possibilities of getting this studentship under your supervision.
Thank you.
Thanks in advance for your help.
