Hello,

I wrote a resume of the Jane Austen novel "Pride and Prejudice."  Please, correct my sentence structures.

My resume:
Two lovers have to overcome the pride, for the female hero, and the prejudice, for the male hero, before being together.  When he first meets her, he refuses her company for he finds her very common and not handsome. He has not tried to hide his motives to her.  Her pride gets hurt.  But not long before, the man falls in love with her.  His prejudice holds him back to assume his love for her.  Even when he proposes her the marriage for the first time, his prejudice is still tangible. The conclusion of that story does not take end at the first marriage proposal for she refuses it. As the story continues, his prejudice disappears.  And only when her pride was cured that she consents to marry him.

Thank you very much,

Spoonfedbaby

My resume:

(I would call this an "abstract", not a "resume".)

Two lovers have to overcome pride, for the female hero, and prejudice, for the male hero, before being together. When first he meets her, he refuses her company, for he finds her very common and not handsome [*pretty]. He has not tried to hide his motives from her. Her pride gets hurt. But it is not long before the man falls in love with her. His prejudice holds him back from disclosing his love for her. Even when he proposes marriage for the first time, his prejudice is still tangible. The conclusion of that story does not end at the first marriage proposal for she refuses it. As the story continues, his prejudice disappears and, only when her pride is overcome, does she consent to marry him.

*"Handsome" usually refers to a man.

Hi,

I've bolded some of your errors for you.  Hope that helps.

Both the hero and the heroine have to overcome pride and prejudice before being together.  When he first meets her, he considers himself too good for anybody refuses her company for he finds her very common and not handsome. He has not tried to hide his motives to her (what are you trying to say?).  Her pride gets hurt and she becomes prejudiced against him.  But not long before, the man finds himself falling in love with her. But his prejudice (what prejudice) holds him back to assume his love for her.  Even when he proposes her the marriage for the first time, his prejudice is still tangible. The conclusion of that story does not take end at the first marriage proposal for she refuses it. As the story continues, his prejudice disappears (awkward).  And only when her pride was cured that she consents to marry him.

Hello Smile [:)]
Thanks to Eimai_Anglos and julielai for their corrections.>>
I tried to understand the corrections and rewrite the abstract.>>

First revised abstract:
Two lovers have to overcome pride for the heroine and prejudice for the hero, before being together.  When first he meets her, he refuses her company, for he finds her very common and not pretty. He has not tried to hide the motive of his refusal from her. Her pride gets hurt. But not before long, the man finds himself falling in love with her. His prejudice holds him back from disclosing his love for her for a certain time. Even when he proposes marriage for the first time, his prejudice is still tangible (evident). The conclusion of that story does not take end at the first marriage proposal for she refuses it. As the story continues, his prejudice disappears and, only when her pride is overcome, does she consent to marry him.

Some definitions:
( A ) Abstract: a shortened form of a speech, article, book, etc., giving only the most important facts or arguments.>>

( B ) Before (very/too) long (also before much longer):  soon
Example >>> They'll be home before very long.>>

( C ) Overcome: to defeat or succeed in controlling or dealing with something.
Example>>> Eventually she managed to overcome her shyness in class.>>

( D ) Prejudice: an unreasonable dislike of a particular group of people or things, or a preference for one group of people over another.
Example >>> Laws against racial prejudice must be strictly enforced.>>

( E ) Company: when you are with a person or people, or the person or people you are with.
example >>> It was a long journey and I was grateful for his company.>>

( F ) Tangible: real or not imaginary; able to be shown, touched or experienced.>>
Example >>> We need tangible evidence if we're going to take legal action.>>

Thank you very much,>>
