Hamlet killed his uncle in revenge for the murder of his father.

...                                              for his father ...

Hi,

Does the second of the above sound as good as the first and mean about the same? If not, why not? Thanks.

Hi,

#2 does not make it clear that Hamlet's father was murdered.

Unless you know the play, you might just think Hamlet's uncle did some other bad thing to Hamlet's father, eg drove him into exile, peed in his beer, etc.

Best wishes, Clive
