Please help me solve this riddle.

12 pears hanging high.
12 knights riding by.
Each knight took a pear
And left 11 hanging there.
 

How can this be?

Maybe there were 23 pears in all ... 11 "hanging low" (pretty lame answer, I know)  Smile [:)]
