Would the opposite be roll down? Let's have a handy example to illustrate the context. If you roll up your trousers you fold the ends back several times but what if your trouser are too loose to the point of losing them? Would you say they roll down? Did I make myself clear?

Hello Maj
If your trousers are too loose, they 'fall down'.
If your trouser legs are 'rolled up' (e.g. to cross a stream), you 'roll them down' afterwards.

Thanks for your post. I wouldn't want to lose my trousers in any given situation and this vocabulary comes in most handy. Lots of love Mr Pedantic.

I couldn't agree more, Maj.
Though I've lost my shirt a few times.
