Hi,

I feel there's something missing in this sentence. I would appreciate your help if you could tell me the meaning it carries. Thanks a lot.

Context is what's missing!

It appears to me to be saying that the wife buys new furniture, doesn't want anyone to use it because it might get dirty; consequently, the husband is banished to the garage so he won't get the new furniture dirty. The more furniture for the woman, the more garage time for the man.
There may be different opinions on the meaning of this one.

Confusing!

Another possible meaning might be that the man makes the furniture and so spends more time in his garage/workshop? Could this also be a translation of a proverb/saying from another language and it just doesn't work in English?

Give us the context and we can work it out for you.
